Marcasite is a mineral with a mettalic appearance. It is a somewhat member of pyrite, but there is a definite difference between the two. It's physicals characteristics are, brassy yellow with a greenish tint sometimes, and it's crystal forms are tabular to bladed to prismatic. It is often found in fossil beds as a replacement mineral for the fossils. When marcasite is faceted it gives off a brilliant sparkle similar to diamonds. On the MOHS scale it is 6 - 6.5 hardness.
